School Grounds
If you are looking to enhance the biodiversity of your school grounds and improve opportunities for learning within them, a good staring point is the Learning Through Landscapes web site. Learning through Landscapes is a UK charity which advises governments, engages the private sector and enables schools and early years settings to make the most of outside spaces for children’s education and wellbeing
You may also wish to consider an outreach visit from an environmental education (link to education providers) specialist to get you started. The Wye Valley AONB unit may be able to assist your project through grant funding. The Sustainable Development Fund (link to SDF info.) is a grant administered by the Wye Valley AONB unit. Schools among others organisations are eligible to apply for funding. For further information contact the Community Links Officer who is happy to advise and discuss your needs. Also follow the link to the Sustainable Development Fund.
Below is a selection of useful information regarding the use of school grounds and the creation of wildlife areas.
