Medieval Mayhem attracts crowds

- Posted Monday 19 September 2011 by Andrew Blake

The Wye Valley AONB and Overlooking the Wye event Medieval Mayhem attracted over 2.5 thousand visitors. Despite the variable weather families flocked to see a range of events  and living history demonstrations staged by the Medieval Combat Society, Discover History and the University of the West of England. With knights, ladies, monks, jesters and fools the day was a resounding success and a fitting end to the events throughout the year celebrating the Wye Valley AONB's forty years since designation.

AONB Information Officer Nikki Moore was pleased with the event's success ' It has been an interesting and busy time for the AONB unit this year. Our four events, organised with the Overlooking the Wye team, have been really popular and raised our profile in the Wye Valley. We have many interesting projects for several years ahead so on with the next forty years.'
