A glorious sunny day at Hereford River Festival saw around 7000 attend the River Carnival in the city centre. A large blue sturgeon and huge papier maché animals took to the streets, Noah's Ark came along the river, the Hereford Bull made one of its first forays on the Wye and Ratty appeared with a host of creatures, pursued by Judge Wild Boar.
This full and exciting family day out took place in the Cathedral, on Cathedral Close, Bishops Meadow, Castle Green and of course, on the River itself! Street performers, processions, maypole dancing, circus workshops, a treasure hunt, live music and Beat the Bells runners all contributed to a wonderful start to the Wye Valley River Festival.
If you were there enjoying the festivities you can see images of the Carnival on our Image Gallery page.
Esther and Henry Rudge, of Ballingham Court Farm, have been presented with the Wye Valley AONB Farming Award trophy for the third time, at the Monmoouthshire Show.
Entries are being invited for the 2018 Wye Valley AONB Farming Awards, celebrating landonwers who make an outstanding contribution to the landscape.
